About
Laura is a self-taught realism artist who primarily works in graphite. Her talent for drawing was uncovered as a teenager, and Laura later went on to win a number of art competitions.
Laura has had a life-long love of art, and fondly remembers family trips to art galleries across Australia. She has a particular affinity for French Impressionism and Surrealism.
Laura re-started her art practice during lockdown and exited her career in healthcare to engage her creative pursuits.
Laura finds the process of working in graphite to be hypnotic and therapeutic. Laura blends a style of realistic fine detail in her main subject matter with impressionistic background textures.
Laura recently started exploring oil painting in a response to images she wanted to create in colour. These works are generous and textured, with a similar blend of realism and impressionism.

A note on sustainability
Laura takes great care to consider the environment throughout her artistic process.
The fine art paper Laura uses for graphite works is made from 100% cotton, which is the oldest and finest tradition of paper making. This paper is made with post consumer fibres and therefore is of a very low carbon footprint. All prints are manufactured on demand in order to eliminate waste.
Laura uses graphite pencils made with Incense-cedar that only grows in the forests of northern California and southern Oregon, which is tightly regulated and sustainability harvested.
Laura has chosen to use low VOC water-soluble oil paints, as they are safer for people and the environment.
